At Pure Balance Pilates, we require all of our instructors to be thoroughly trained and certified.

Mae has been a dedicated Pilates instructor since 2014, finding her greatest joy in witnessing the transformative journey her clients experience.

She lights up when her clients achieve movements that once felt challenging, and she’s passionate about helping them build confidence and discover new connections in their bodies. Mae’s approach embraces both general fitness and rehabilitative practices, making Pilates inclusive and accessible for everyone.
She believes Pilates is a mindful and intelligent approach to movement that requires complete presence—leaving no room for outside distractions. Mae loves guiding clients to create positive, lasting changes and habits that elevate their overall well-being.

Shi Washington

Shi fell in love with Pilates from her very first class and knew it was her true calling.

Shi fell in love with Pilates from her very first class and knew it was her true calling. With a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Wellness Lifestyle Coaching from Arizona State University and certification as a personal trainer through the International Sports and Science Association (ISSA), Shi brings a wealth of knowledge to her sessions. Her background in sports and fitness has shaped her dynamic, engaging teaching style, and she’s known for delivering “spicy” workouts that keep clients challenged and motivated. Pilates is her passion, and her goal is to inspire others to find joy and strength in movement.

My love of Pilates began in 2020, when I discovered how powerful mindful movement can be in building strength, balance, and confidence.

My love of Pilates began in 2020, when I discovered how powerful mindful movement can be in building strength, balance, and confidence. In 2024, I completed my comprehensive certification training through Pilates Sports Center and have been passionate about teaching ever since.

I love working with my Pure Balance Pilates clients and helping them feel stronger, more connected, and at ease in their bodies. For me, Pilates is about more than exercise—it’s about creating lasting improvements in how we move, feel, and live every day.

My love for Pilates stemmed from my love for fitness.

My love for Pilates stemmed from my love for fitness. I’ve been in the Fitness Industry for 31 years and my mantra during that time has been focused on coaching a healthy living and lifestyle. My experience started with working in fitness centers teaching cardio and strength training classes to one on one personal training. It was at a fitness center that I took my first Pilate Reformer class and fell in love with Pilates. That was it, I was hooked! The teacher at the time encouraged me to become a certified Pilate teacher and that’s what I did.

In 2007, after completing my training, I worked for LifeTime Fitness teaching the Mat & Reformer format. After three years, I left LifeTime and continued to teach Mat Pilates at various studios. Then in 2018, I had an exciting opportunity to enter the Pilates Reformer studio scene again! Jean Atkinson of “Pilates By Jean” worked with me to bring me up to speed and then gave me the opportunity to teach and I’ve taught at PBJ for the past 7 years.

Pilates brings core strength, flexibility, balance and mindfulness to all who practice. No matter if you’re an athlete or someone who’s never been physically active, it can help you overcome any of your short comings. It’s a great compliment to whatever lifestyle you have. Also, as we age or mature, we need to keep moving and Pilates provides that bridge.

My mantra is still the same and my goal is to teach, encourage, challenge and guide you through your Pilates practice! I look forward to seeing you on the Reformer.

Gail began her fitness journey with weightlifting and progressed to triathlons. She found CrossFit and became a coach in 2013.

Gail began her fitness journey with weightlifting and progressed to triathlons. She found CrossFit and became a coach in 2013. A friend invited her to Pilates in 2021, and she got her certification in 2024. Gail is passionate about helping clients make noticeable gains in strength, balance, and flexibility while building a fun and friendly community in studio. All of Gail’s classes are programmed with progressions available, so every client can get a challenging workout while also feeling safe and successful.

Ashly Wenzel

Ash discovered Pilates after a near death cycling accident and immediately fell in love. Pilates is the reason she was able to avoid knee and spinal surgeries and began to heal chronic pain.

Ash discovered Pilates after a near death cycling accident and immediately fell in love. Pilates is the reason she was able to avoid knee and spinal surgeries and began to heal chronic pain. She has been a Certified Pilates Teacher since 2012 and finds joy in helping her clients understand their bodies and move without pain. She has worked with a diverse range of clients, from children to the elderly, professional athletes to beginners, and those recovering from injuries and surgeries. Ash has a BS in Biology and also specializes in Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Craniosacral Therapy, and Myofascial Therapy, bringing unique rehabiliative knowledge and perspective to her Pilates classes.

I love watching how small, intentional movements can completely change the way your body feels, making everyday motion easier, unlocking hidden strength, and helping you feel more connected to yourself.
I believe at its heart, Pilates gives you back freedom in your body!
Being part of the process as Pilates restores flexibility and helps my clients bounce back from injuries or the wear-and-tear of sports and life is incredibly rewarding. The way Pilates builds lasting alignment from the inside out and sharpens focus continues to surprise me (and my clients!) with its ability to transform not just muscles, but the whole person.

Rachel brings 12 years of Pilates experience and over 7 years of teaching to Pure Balance Pilates.

Rachel brings 12 years of Pilates experience and over 7 years of teaching to Pure Balance Pilates. She discovered Pilates following a back injury that ended her college tennis career and credits it with restoring her strength and health. Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and is currently advancing her studies in physical therapy. Certified through Balanced Body, she is a comprehensively trained Pilates instructor, a personal trainer, and a mobility specialist. Rachel believes Pilates is for everyone and is dedicated to helping her students feel empowered and capable in every session. Her favorite exercise? The Teaser!
